Caring For Your Microgreens
We want you to get the most out of your "Living" Microgreens. If you follow a few simple instructions on how to handle your microgreens, you can expect a 6-9 days shelf life after being harvested, which is typical of most produce.
How to Keep Your Microgreens Fresh
Yes, there are significant benefits to eating microgreens as soon as they are cut. That's why we prefer to deliver our microgreens living instead of selling pre-harvested. It's a known fact that all vegetables begin to lose nutrients once cut from their roots. Here are a few methods to keep your microgreens fresh for up to 10 days!
How to Cut and Use Microgreens
-
Cut your Microgreens — use a scissor or knife roughly ½" above the growing medium.
-
Give them a quick rinse — As with any produce it is recommended to wash your greens before eating.
-
Add to meal or store for later — To get the most nutritional value, add them immediately to your smoothies, salads, sandwiches, or soups (or just eat them plain). If you want to store them and save them for later make sure to remove any moister before refrigerating in an air tight container.
